Lessons From My Dogs

Watching the gentle play between Duke and Lola is pure therapy! I wonder how Duke, a 72 pound boxer knows ever so gently to avoid stepping on her, how does she know he will put up with her little sharp bites (and yes, they could hurt, I know from experience:)).

More importantly, they, like humans, “fight” over something just because the other dog wants it. Unlike humans, they instinctively know it is just a game, and when it’s over, they are best friends.

Does this hold true for humans? Do we shake hands after the “game” is over? Do we give each other a sincere hug, while the crushed plastic bottle is forgotten in some corner of the room of our lives?
